Pineapple cake is a popular part of the Lunar New Year celebration in Taiwan and given the history of pineapple on the island, we can understand the appeal.
Among the biggest growers of pineapple in the world, Taiwan’s zenith of pineapple business came between 1895 and 1930. After World War II, most pineapple was produced for local use . . . and local bakers obliged with all sorts of pineapple confections.
The traditional pineapple cake to celebrate the Lunar New Year is a square shaped pastry with a shortbread-type outer crust and pineapple filling much like jam.

To get hands-on time with products, we regularly meet one-on-one with gear companies and even tour manufacturing facilities. (When we do this, we pay our own travel expenses).
