Finding the best pork rinds!

It was a tough job. But someone had to do it.

When we decided to set out to find the best pork rinds, we decided a blind taste test is always best. We gathered up the pork rind enthusiasts here at the home office and munched down on several major brands.

Before we get to the winners, first a bit of pork rind 101. How are these tasty snacks made?

Pork rinds, (also known as chicharrones) are made of pig skin. I know, sounds weird, but true. The skin is first cooked in boiling water, then the fat is removed. They are dried out in a low-temperature oven for a day, then finally fried in hot oil (although one of our recommendations is actually baked). Pork rinds then puff up into delightful, airy snacks to which salt and other flavorings are added.

For keto and paleo aficionados, pork rinds are a great snack. Of course, they’re yummy even if you aren’t on a special diet!

Here are the pork rinds that won our taste tests!

Why Trust Us

We’ve been rating and reviewing products for the home and families since 1994. We do extensive research, evaluating products with an eye toward quality, ease of use and affordability. When we purchase a product for hands-on testing, we do so with our own money.

Here’s another key point: we don’t take money from the brands we review. No free samples, no sponsors, no “partnerships.” Our work is 100% reader-supported!
