Best Outdoor Ping Pong Table Overall: Stiga XTR Series Table Tennis Table
One thing you learn after writing and reviewing products for families and the home for 25+ years is this: always listen to the enthusiasts when it comes to big purchases.
Since outdoor ping pong tables are a big investment, we turned to the ping pong enthusiasts among our readership of our 17 books. We asked: which outdoor ping pong tables were easiest to assemble? To fold and unfold? Which had the best bounce?
For the best outdoor ping pong table overall, we pick Stiga’s XTR Series Table Tennis Table. It combined the best quality and ease of use. Here’s more:
What We Liked
• Easy to assemble. But it is a two-person job, because of the weight!
• Good pounce from the aluminum composite table top.
• Folds and unfolds easily.
• Wheels lock for stability.
• Includes net.
• Good quality wheels.
What Needs Work
• No leveler. This is a big missing feature, unfortunately. Some tables have a leveler feature—if the ground is uneven, you can slightly move up or down one side. This table doesn’t have that, requiring you to use whatever is on hand to boost one side.
• Rust if left out in the weather. We realize this is an “outdoor” ping pong table—but that doesn’t mean it won’t have issues if left out in the elements over time. The biggest issue: rust. Our advice: store this in a garage or shed in the off season!
Best Budget-Friendly Outdoor Ping Pong Table: JOOLA NOVA Outdoor Table Tennis Table with Waterproof Net Set
Yes, outdoor ping pong tables can be pricey. Good news: we found Joola Nova’s Rally outdoor table to be good quality and easy on the wallet, based on feedback from our readers.
What We Liked
• Quick assembly. This table comes about 95% pre-assembled.
• Aluminum/plastic composite table top helps prevent chipping or warping.
• Easy to fold and unfold.
• Can be used for solo practice with one side folded.
• Cover is available. This is a separate purchase, but a nice option to keep the surface clean and dry.
• Rust resistant powder coated undercarriage.
• Includes net.
• Leg leveler! This is an important feature, since most surfaces aren’t exactly level.
What Needs Work
• Rust resistant does not mean no rust. Like any outdoor ping pong table, if you leave it out in the elements for a long period of time, it is susceptible to rust. Store it in a garage or shed when not in use.
• Shipping damage. When you get this table, immediately inspect it for shipping damage. Unfortunately, this can happen with any ping pong table, given their weight and bulk.
Best Outdoor Ping Pong Conversion Top Table: JOOLA Tetra – 4 Piece Ping Pong Table Top for Pool Table
One affordable option for outdoor ping pong is to convert an existing table—this conversion table tennis top does just that trick.
What We Liked
• Foam pads helps protect the table used underneath.
• Lightweight. Yes, this table weighs about 85 lbs, but can be easily moved back and forth by two adults. It is lightweight compared to a full-size outdoor ping pong table, which can weight hundreds of pounds!
• Easy to assemble. It takes about 3 minutes to assemble.
What Needs Work
• Use outside, but store inside. This table top is probably best stored inside—and that’s one of the good things about conversion tops! They can easily be moved inside to outside and back again.
• Height dependent on the table underneath. Hence, your converted ping pong table may be higher or lower than the standard height.
