Best Easy to Clean: SUMO Homemade Ice Cream Container
After we reviewed the best ice cream maker machines, we realized we had a problem—what to do with all the ice cream we now can make? (First world problems, we know!).
So we launched a quest to find the best ice cream container, purchasing several different designs and giving them a try-out.
We like this container’s non-stick base and overall quality construction—super easy to clean.
What We Liked
• Stackable.
• Three colors.
• Non-stick base.
• Dishwasher safe.
Best Round Quart: Tovolo Stackable Sweet Treat Ice Cream Tub
Beloved kitchen gadget maker Tovolo’s Stackable Sweet Treat Ice Cream Tub is our pick as the best round quart size container. We tried out several round tubs and this one came out on top.
What We Liked
• Stackable.
• Silicone, tight-fitting lid.
• Good brand with solid quality reputation.
Best Long 1.5 Quart: StarPack Long Scoop Ice Cream Freezer Storage Container
One big winner of our tests: long, slim designs like StarPack’s Long Scoop Ice Cream Freezer Storage Container. We liked the overall design, that lets you easily scoop out ice cream (how come commercial ice cream makers haven’t thought of this shape?).
What We Liked
• Holds up to 1.5 quarts. That’s great because most ice cream makers make about a 1 quart at a time (some are more).
• Double wall design = no freezer burn.
• BPA-free polypropylene.
• Silicone lid.
What Needs Work
• Cracking. We see a minority of reports that some containers cracked when frozen, but we didn’t see that in our testing.
• Silicone lid could be more secure. It just sits on top—it would be better if it snapped in place.
• Hand wash only.
• A bit pricey.
Why Trust Us
We’ve been rating and reviewing products for the home and families since 1994. We do extensive research, evaluating products with an eye toward quality, ease of use and affordability. When we purchase a product for hands-on testing, we do so with our own money.
Here’s another key point: we don’t take money from the brands we review. No free samples, no sponsors, no “partnerships.” Our work is 100% reader-supported!
