Best Made in the USA: Annin Flagmakers Model 145260 Texas State Flag

Did you know that many Texas flags sold today are not made in the USA? Well, as our Texas friends might say: that dog won’t hunt.

Sure, there’s nothing wrong with flags made in elsewhere—but if you are going to fly the flag of the Lone Star State, why not make it one made in the USA?

Based in Virginia, Annin Flag Makers traces its roots to 1847, which is just two years after Texas became a US state. This flag is made by American workers in an American factory . . .  Annin has manufacturing facilities in Virginia and Ohio.

Quality is very good. Here’s more:

• Heavy-weight nylon fabric is 200 denier.

• UV resistant dyes.

What Needs Work

• No embroidery. Yes, some Texas flags have an embroidered star, which looks nice. But this one passes the look test in our book!

What Needs Work

• Not made in the USA.

• Star isn’t embroidered.

Best Outdoor Flag: State of Texas 3×5 Feet Flag

If you’ve lived in Texas for even a short while, you know Texas weather can be unforgiving. The wimpy flags that might work in some northern state may lack the gumption to survive a Texas dust storm. Or wind storm. Or rain storm.

This flag meets our test for an outdoor flag flying in Texas: heavyweight construction with sewn stripes. And note the heavily embroidered star.

What We Liked

• Sewn stripes.

• Brass grommets.

• Embroidered star.

• Affordable.

What Needs Work

• Not made in the USA.
