Tips & Advice on Picking Salmon Oil for Your Pet

If your veterinarian has recommended salmon oil for your dog, cat (or even ferret), there is good news: there are many choices on the market today.

Most all salmon oil for pets includes Omega-3’s although some also have tocopherols (naturally derived vitamin E to prevent spoilage), Omega-6’s or Omega-9’s and even vitamins. 

While you can still find fish oil gel caps, our readers preferred the versions in pump bottles for ease of use–so that is what we focus on here in this review.

Important tip: be sure to refrigerate your bottle of fish oil as soon as you open it to avoid spoilage. 

FYI: not all dogs and cats will be excited by the addition of a sprinkle of fish oil on their kibble, so there may be some trial and error when determining which brand to try. Some have a more fishy smell than others.
