Best Budget-Friendly Flag: Annin American Flag model 2460

It probably won’t shock you to learn that most American flags aren’t actually made in the USA. Like almost all things today, overseas makers dominate the American flag market.

Yes, we realize American-made flags often cost more than those imported from China—but we were pleasantly surprised to find American-made flags that were easy on the wallet. (We tried out several flags from American manufacturers for this article—and also compared these to imported flags).

Case in point: this Annin American Flag, made in Virginia and Ohio, USA. The quality is high and the colors are vibrant.

What We Liked

• Nylon fabric flag can be used indoors or outdoors.

• Embroidered stars and stitched stripes.

• Color-matched stitching.

• 2 brass grommets.

• Looks fantastic.

• Great for outdoor use in light winds. Thanks to the lightweight fabric, this flag can fly in the slightest breeze.

What’s Needs Work

• Not the best choice for windy areas. You may want to go for a beefier flag if you live in an area with high winds. This one will probably begin to fray after a few months of moderate to heavy wind. But that’s true of most affordable flags made of lightweight nylon—they don’t last forever.

Best Flag With Pole Set: American Flag and Flagpole Set

Annin is one of the better quality flag makers with production here in the USA—good quality and durability. And they are one of the few made in the USA flag makers that offers a complete set: a 3′ x 5′ flag plus pole plus mount. Here’s more:

What We Liked

• Heavyweight 200 denier nylon.

• Embroidered stars and sewn stripes. Less expensive flags are just printed; this one is better quality.

• UV resistant SolarGuard dyes to prevent fading.

• Brass grommets.

• Cast aluminum bracket.

• Gold finial ball.

• Made in Virginia or Ohio (the maker has two factories in the US). For the record, the mounting bracket and pole are made in China; but the flag is made in the USA. The kit is assembled in the USA.

Best Big American Flag: Grace Alley Flag Company 4×6 flag

The standard American flag you see flying outside a house is 3′ x 5′ feet. If you need something bigger, we’d suggest Grace Alley 4′ x 6′ flag—excellent quality and a bigger size, great for boats, parades or other uses where you need more flag-power!

This Grace Alley flag has the same pros and cons as the 3×5 flag we recommend above—same materials, same quality.

Best Supersized American Flag: Grace Alley 5′ x 8′ American Flag

This flag has the same pros and cons as the Grace Alley flag recommended above—just supersized!

This 5′ x 8′ flag is great for boats, schools, offices . . . wherever you need something more prominent than the standard 3′ x 5′ flag. If you choose to fly this on a pole, a 25 foot tall pole would be the right height.

Very good quality: embroidered stars and sewn stripes.

This flag is made of Grace Alley’s Durawavez Nylon, which is designed for more harsh outdoor conditions.
